Indian Motorcycle Occupational Shaving Mug, porcelain with polychrome painted Indian Motorcycle, apparently one of the first of its kind that was produced. The machine largely resembles a bike with an attached engine, and behind the seat reads Indian Motorcycle, Hendee MFG Co. Gilt name H.R. Nowlen. Maker’s mark T & V Limoges, France, and gilt inscribed designer’s mark P. Eisemann, 12/07. The Indian Motorcycle Company preceded Harley-Davidson Motor Company by 2 years, and is America’s oldest motorcycle brand, beginning in 1901. This mug is dated early in the company’s history, just 6 years into its existence.
